SeatSwap coffee chat

We sat down with Fabian ('18 AB Computer Science) to swap information about our summer experiences. Fabian works for SeatSwap which facilitates ticket exchanges online ( Rather than selling their tickets on the second hand market, users get the chance to swap their tickets and go to other events. The main target audience is season ticket holders whose tickets might go to waste otherwise.

What sort of work/projects are you involved with?

I have worked on several projects including: internal monitoring of website usage, building a reputations system that gives users credibility, and user retention via automated email reminders.

How would you describe the “office vibe”?

Always focused on the consumer.

What did you learn in the first half of the program that will affect how you go about work or life in the end of your internship?

It is easy to get caught up in the big ideas, but sometimes it is important to get things done in small steps (while keeping an eye on mission).

What is one experience you had at work that has effected thoughts about what you would like to do in the future?

I realized that in order to be successful you need to know a huge amount about what you do. That can be achieved through being an expert or being really passionate, but it needs to be one or the other.
